Kansas ASA Fall Board of Directors Meeting

Approved Changes to the 2010 Kansas ASA Code
Code changes affective January 1, 2010
  • Code 201.01
    c.
    Junior Olympic (Youth) Adult Team Members (Managers and Coaches): A minimum of one adult team member must have a current year’s Individual Membership/Registration and ACE Certification with Background Check present when participating in Championship Play, and all other adult team members must have a current Individual Membership/Registration and ASA Background Check when participating in Championship Play on the field of play and in the dugout. Note: ACE Certification is recommended for all youth managers and coaches.
    Comments: Change the minimum requirements for adult team members (Manager and Coaches) to participate in Junior Olympic (Youth) Championship Play.

 

  • 208.07 GIRLS’ FAST PITCH 10u, 12u, & 14u CLASS C:
    c. Teams in this classification may enter their Gold or Silver State Championship directly without qualifying in a KASA Region Championship with the approval of their KASA Region Commissioner. Teams entering Championship Play directly will pay an additional $50 entry fee.
    Comments: Allows Youth Class C 10, 12, & 14u fast pitch teams that are unable to attend their Region Championship to enter the Gold or Silver State Championship directly. Classification and approval are required from their KASA Region Commissioner.

 

  • 208.08 GIRLS COACH PITCH 8u:
    c. Teams in this classification may enter their Gold or Silver State Championship directly without qualifying in a KASA Region Championship with the approval of their KASA Region Commissioner. Teams entering Championship Play directly will pay an additional $50 entry fee.
    Comments: Allow Youth 8u coach pitch teams that are unable to attend their Region Championship to enter the Gold or Silver State Championship directly. Classification and approval are required from their KASA Region Commissioner.

 

  • Code: 211.15 Advancing Berths:
    a. Girls’ 10C-Gold, 12C-Gold, 14C-Gold, 16C-Open, and 18C-Open classifications of Championship Play will offer four (4) berths in descending order of finish in their respective age group to the Class B Northern National Championships
    .
    Comments: Moves letter a to letter b and add new letter a.
    Provides four (4) berths to Class C-Gold and C-Open to the Class B Northern National Championship in their age group.

 

  • 305.02 Mandatory Reclassification:
    Number 2, Exceptions: a.
    Girls’ 10C-Gold and Silver Fast Pitch, & Girls’ 8C-Gold and Silver Coach Pitch Classification’s Only - A team that moves up to the next higher age group may participate in the same classification the following year. Teams that are eligible and use this exception will qualify in their new age group as required by the Kansas ASA Region or Kansas ASA Competition Coed.
    Comments:
    Eliminates Girls 12 and 14C-Gold & Silver Fast Pitch, and Girls 16 and 18C-Open Fast Pitch from this exception.

 

  • 305.03 Restricted Classification:
    Add the word National to State
    /National Championship Play.
    Comments: Includes Junior Olympic (Youth) in the definition of Restricted Classification in National Championship Play.

 

  • Men’s Fast Pitch
    312.03 Class "B":
    Class "B" teams may not have any "Major" players and only three (3) Class "A" players excluding pitchers. Any team which establishes itself as a strong Class "B" team, or which has improved through the addition of higher caliber players, will generally be moved up to Class "A."
    Comments: Allows three Class "A" players excluding pitchers

 

  • 312.04 Class "C": Class "C" teams may not have any "Major" or "A" players and only three (3) Class "B" players excluding pitchers Any team which establishes itself as a strong Class "C" team, or which has improved through the addition of higher caliber players will generally be moved up to Class "B."
    Comments: Allows three Class "B" players excluding pitchers.

 

  • 312.05 Pitchers: Pitchers may not participate in Championship Play in a classification lower then they are classified for.
    Comments: Definition of pitcher Classification.

 

  • Note:  Items above may be subject to change as a result of changes to the ASA Code by vote of the ASA council.
