One Hundred and Twenty Attended
State Umpire Clinic

One Hundred and Twenty attended the State Certifying Umpire Clinic March 21, 2010 in Topeka, Kansas despite Saturday’s snow storm. Umpires received the latest training and information for the 2010 softball season from four clinicians.

Umpire registration started at 8:00 a.m. Sunday with coffee, juice and rolls available free to participants.  Nancy Sharples was hostess.  The clinic kicked off with the introduction of Kansas ASA staff and clinicians. Several umpires were recognized for their accomplishments since the 2009 clinic.

Wilson Umpire Award: The Wilson Umpire Award recognizes Kansas ASA Umpires for Outstanding Service, Character, and Contribution to the Sport of Softball. The Wilson Award is  named in honor of Dale Wilson, Kansas ASA Umpire-In-Chief Retired.

National Indicator Fraternity: ASA Umpires that apply and qualify are accepted to the National Indicator Fraternity. Few of ASA's 50,000 plus umpires have the opportunity to reach this plateau. Inductees names are permanently placed in the ASA National Hall of Fame.
