The Gold and Silver State championships in the above age groups and classification will still use a three (3) game format. In 2011 Kansas ASA will replace the ASA three game format with an ASA Double Elimination Bracket with all teams failing to advance past the first complete round of loser’s bracket placed in Single Elimination Bracket.

This will create two divisions of play in each Gold and Silver State Championship. Teams competing in the Double Elimination will be competing for a Division 1 Championship and teams competing in the Single Elimination will be competing for a Division 2 Championship.

This type of tournament format will equalize the playing field for teams to compete in, recognize more teams as the format creates two State Champions in each Gold and Silver State Tournament, and will allow for scheduling of games to eliminate most back to back games.

Classifications and Tournament Awards

Girls’ 10u, 12u, 14u, 16u, 18u Class A & B Fast Pitch

The tournament format for the above teams remains the same (ASA 4 Game Format) with the exception of Pool Play.

Exception - Class A and B Pool Play of the same age groups may be combined when one classification has four or fewer teams entered. Teams of each classification will be divide equally (as possible) among pools. Pool games against teams of same classification will be used to seed teams into their elimination bracket.

Five or more teams entered:

• 1^st Place: Team Trophy and 16 KASA Gold Medals
• 2^nd Place: 16 KASA Silver Medals
• 3^rd Place: 16 KASA Bronze Medals
• 4^th Place: 16 KASA Bronze Medals

Four or fewer teams entered:

• 1^st Place: Team Trophy and 16 KASA Gold Medals
• 2^nd Place: 16 KASA Silver Medals

Kansas ASA Apparel

Kansas ASA is working on apparel to be given away in drawings at Youth State Championships and other venues. An announcement will be made in January.
