2010 Scholarship Winners

With only six scholarships to offer the Kansas ASA Scholarship Committee reached a very difficult decision as all applicants were well qualified for scholarships. We are pleased to announce that the following individuals were selected to receive scholarships:
 
Latoya Nelson-Hageman  - $750 Margaret Pack Scholarship

Latoya is the daughter of Michael and Tamara Hageman of Manhattan, Kansas. She will graduate from Manhattan High School and her top choice for college is Rockhurst University in Kansas City. She has been offered a softball scholarship to play there and it is a very prestigious school for academics. She works extremely hard on and off the field being involved in many school activities. She has an above average GPA and practices softball vigorously all year long. Latoya is known for her hard work and dedication to the game of softball.

Brieanne Harmer - $500 Kansas ASA Scholarship

Brieanne is the daughter of Kevin and Sheri Harmer of Marysville, Kansas. She will graduate from Marysville High School and plans to further her education at the University of Kansas. Physical Therapy is the major she has chosen. She has played ASA softball for eleven years. All of her teams she has played for have come extremely far in tournaments. She is known for being a very reliable and dedicated individual. People have said that her congenial and sincere personality will get her very far in life.

Aleeya Ybarra - $500 Kansas ASA Scholarship

Aleeya is the daughter of Bucky and Andrea Ybarra of Wellington, Kansas. She will graduate from Wellington High School and plans to attend Barton Community College with a major in Business. She will also received a scholarship to play softball. Aleeya has played ASA softball since she was ten years old and went through many A level tryouts. Aleeya is known for her enthusiasm and her willingness to always perform a task and put forth great effort.

Abby Jo Furstenberg - $500 Kansas ASA Scholarship

Abby is the daughter of Randy and Connie Furstenberg. She will graduate Maize High School and will continue her education and play softball at Butler Community College. Abby played her softball with the Maize High School and the Kansas Renegades a Class "A" ASA team. Abby is involved with a number of activities including Pep Club, French Club, Kay Club, and a youth program at her church. In a letter of endorsement for scholarship they wrote "She has a strong moral character and the highest integrity." Summed up in a few words, integrity and character.

Chelsey Gotchall - $500 Kansas ASA Scholarship

Chelsey is the daughter of Don and Shelley Gotchall of Great Bend, Kansas. She will graduate from Great Bend High School and her picks for college are Kansas Wesleyan University or Pratt Community College. She wants to fulfill her goals of becoming an educator in the Theater as well as a softball coach. Chelsey has been an active and vital member of the Great Bend High School drama department and is known for going beyond and above all expectations.

Sara Blackburn - $500 Kansas ASA Scholarship

Sara is the daughter of Tom and Carol Blackburn of Garden City, Kansas. She will graduate from Garden City High School and is planning to attend Southwestern College or Kansas Wesleyan University. While playing softball in college she is majoring in business and wants to receive a degree in Business Marketing. She has been very active in ASA softball and dedicated most of her life playing the game. Sara is known for always doing her best and succeeding in whatever she does.
