The 74th Amateur Softball Association Annual Council Meeting November 12-18, 2005 in Tucson, Arizona

Tucson, Arizona 11/13/05 -

The ASA Northern Territory awarded 2007 Northern National Championships to Kansas.

Topeka, Kansas was awarded the Hooters ASA Men’s Class D Slow Pitch Northern National Championship to be played at Rueger Park, August 31 through September 3, 2007.

Salina, Kansas was awarded the ASA Girls 12-Under Class B Northern National Championship to be played at Bill Burk Memorial Park, July 31 through August 5, 2007.  Congratulations to the Cities of Topeka and Salina, Kansas.

Posted 10/29/05 - The ASA, Mid-America Region Council approves seven amendments to the 2006 Regional Code:
St. Joseph, MO 10/8-9/05 -
Article 108.01 - Changes the 2/3 vote to 60% required to approve amendments to the Regional Code and Playing Rules.

 

Article 202.03 - Allows a Local Association of the Mid-America Region to give their unused USA|ASA National Championship Berths to the Mid-America Regional Championship Tournament.

 

Article 206.03 - Allows a Local Association to add a Gate Fee to the tournament entry fee in lieu of an admission fee. A Gate Fee may not exceed $100.

 

Article 202.09 - Adds Regional-National and Hall of Fame Qualifiers, and USA|ASA National Qualifiers to the list that will use the ASA three game format.

 

Article 207.04 - Changes the Travel Fund to an Entry Fee Reimbursement for all teams that qualify for a USA|ASA (Youth) National Championship, ASA (Adult) National Championship, or Hall of Fame Tournament in their Regional Championship, Regional National Qualifier, and Regional-National and Hall of Fame Qualifier. Teams that win or receive a Fill-in Berth are not eligible for entry fee reimbursement. Entry Fee Reimbursement will not exceed $50 per team entered in a tournament.

 

Article 402.00 & Article 403.00 that dealt with Classification was deleted.

The Kansas Amateur Softball Association held their Annual Kansas ASA Conference March 19-20 at the Holiday Inn in Topeka, Kansas. Over two hundred people attended one or more of the events offered by Kansas ASA. It was a busy informative and fun packed weekend. A brief description of each event click More.
Posted 03/09/05 - Kansas ASA to induct Jim Westerhaus into the Hall of Fame.
Jim and his wife Ellen live in Junction City, Kansas where he is the Sports Director for Fort Riley. Jim and Ellen have four children and ten grandchildren that they are very proud of.
 

Jim played baseball, fast and slow pitch softball, and also tried his hand at umpiring a couple of years. Jim joined the staff of Kansas ASA in 1990 and has served as Tournament Director, Adult Programs Director, Kansas ASA President, and is a voting council member of the Amateur Softball Association, the National Governing Body of Softball in the United States.
 

We take great pride in honoring Jim with his induction into the Kansas ASA Hall of Fame at the Kansas ASA Awards Banquet.

The Kansas ASA Awards Banquet will be held in conjunction with the Kansas ASA Conference March 19-20 at the Holiday Inn, Topeka KS.
